Nankusia Shyam

Nankusia Shyam is a distinguished Gond artist who powerfully sustains and carries forward the foundational Jangarh Kalam style pioneered by her late husband, Jangarh Singh Shyam. Born in Sonpuri, Madhya Pradesh, in 1972, she was encouraged to paint by her husband and developed a signature visual language defined by luminous colors, dotted textures, and intricate wave patterns. Drawing from rural roots, memory, and personal experience, her works gracefully weave together flora, fauna, and the rhythms of village life. Operating from Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal, she has achieved international acclaim with exhibitions spanning Dubai, Japan, and Sri Lanka, and her significant artistic contributions were honored with the Madhya Pradesh Hasta Shilpa Vikas Nigam Award in 2002.
