Anita Devi

Hailing from Bihar, Anita Ji has been practising Madhubani painting—a centuries-old folk art originating in the Mithila region with five distinct styles—for the past 34 years. Traditionally created on walls and handmade paper using natural dyes and intricate patterns to depict mythological stories, flora, and fauna, her exceptional work has earned her many awards and honors, including the prestigious State Award in Madhubani. For Anita Ji, this craft is a celebration of tradition, though finding a suitable and sustainable market remains a constant challenge.
