Saroj Kumar Jha
My name is Saroj Kumar Jha. I am from Bihar and I am a Madhubani painting artist. Madhubani painting is a very popular and ancient folk art of Bihar. I have been associated with this art for the past four generations, and even today I am carrying this tradition forward.
Since childhood, I have seen my mother making paintings, which created enthusiasm and attachment towards this art in my mind. It is believed that Madhubani painting originated at the time of the wedding of Lord Shri Ram and Mother Sita, when King Janak of Mithila had the palace walls decorated with paintings. This tradition later became famous by the name of Madhubani painting.
Through this art, I feel proud of myself, and in the future too, I will continue my efforts to preserve and promote this traditional art.
