Shashank Bharadwaj

Shashank Bharadwaj is a Mysuru-based artist working in Mysore painting, the classical South Indian tradition known for fine detail, devotional subjects and gold gesso embellishment. Born into a family of musicians, he took up painting early and began working professionally in 2011.

His practice covers original work, restoration and the study of classical texts and traditional iconography. He has restored works by other artists and painted for private collections in India and abroad.

His work has been shown at the Mysuru Dasara Art Expo, ChitraSanthe, Art House Bangalore and World Art Expo Dubai. He holds the titles Kala Tapasvi and Ovia Chemmal, and is an authorised artist with the Government of India's Handicrafts Commission.

He also teaches, running workshops and mentoring emerging artists in the Mysore tradition.
